The Herbert W. Vaughan Lecture on America's Founding Principles - Princeton, NJ

On Sunday, October 15th, Professor Hadley Arkes delivered the Herbert W. Vaughan Lecture on America’s Founding Principles at Princeton University. This annual lecture, sponsored by the James Madison Program on American Ideals and Institutions, is given to "promote and advance understanding of the founding principles and core doctrines of American constitutionalism." In his lecture, Professor Arkes examines the perennial tension within american jurisprudence between democratic political structures and the moral bounds such structures entail in order to remain coherent.
