Prof. Arkes Testifies on DOMA, 7/2/1996

Same-Gender Marriage: The panel talked about their support of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) of 1996. DOMA codified heterosexual-only marriage in federal law and banned the transfer of gay marriage between states. The panel talked about the religious, social, and scientific bases of banning gay marriage. They focused on the threat posed by the homosexual life on the civic goods of society.
