Gerald R. Sharpe

Gerald R. Sharpe III is a 2025 graduate, summa cum laude and Salutatorian, of The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law. After graduation, he will join Squire Patton Boggs as an associate before clerking for Judge Elizabeth L. Branch of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and Judge Lee P. Rudofsky of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. At Catholic Law, Gerald served as Lead Articles Editor of Catholic University Law Review, President of the Federalist Society, a research assistant to Professor J. Joel Alicea, and a student worker for the Center for the Constitution and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. He was also a competing member of the Moot Court and National Trial teams, earning numerous accolades for his oral advocacy. During law school, he worked at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, the U.S. Department of Justice, for Judge Richard J. Leon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and at Squire Patton Boggs. He is a Blackstone Fellow and an Ex Corde Fellow. Gerald received his law school’s prestigious Columbus Award, recognizing the student who best embodies the qualities and spirit of the Columbus School of Law, as well as the Alumni Association Award for academic excellence, outstanding co-curricular involvement, and dedication to the law school community. Originally from Monmouth County, New Jersey, he graduated magna cum laude from Catholic University’s undergraduate program, where he studied Philosophy and Politics and served as president of the student body.
